The research method for the ultimate load of prestressed hollow core slabs

Concrefy is specialized in “design by testing” of constructive concrete. A good example is the research into the maximum bending tensile strength and shear strength of hollow core slabs. It is spectacular to see when hollow plates with a thickness of 500 mm and a weight of 4 tons suddenly collapse when broken.

Practical example

The accompanying video shows one test from a series of tests with the mentioned sheet thickness. The bending tensile strength and maximum absorbable shear force is performed in accordance with the EN 1168, Annex J “full scale test”. "Tests can be force and deformation controlled.
